Crossed the bridge to the Asia side of Istanbul for dinner. Most Europeans lived on this side and the architecture reflects that. The theatre and a lot of trade took place here. Grand hotels including the Pera Palace Hotel where Agatha Christie and others have stayed line the streets. This modern luxurious side has the same narrow streets but with different mix of people. Dinner followed with Jonathan Curr and Florence Curr and the Irish Ambassador and his wife, Austrian Ambassador and wife and their beautiful girls who speak 4 languages and are super polite. Saw a great panoramic view of Istanbul from the terrace of the Adahan Hotel. The owner took us for a tour and showed us his amazing restorations to his hotel. Very minimalist but beautiful. Went for dinner at a busy restaurant where we tasted their drink Raki. Walked back after dinner through little pubs pass graffiti walls with students singing Gangham Style with a guitar. Owner of the building and hotel, a quiet and humble smiling man, took us to a bar on the ground floor of his building that was super cool with a DJ to match. Have not bought much but thanks for my comb made from rhinoceros husk and ring Misieli Fineanganofo. Best time to shop is in the morning as shops believe it is good luck to have the first customer buy something. Just like Nadi town :) except they close here at midnight.
