Crystal Lampman 1 hr · Well Mr Daniel Id be more than happy as a director of Missisquoi Valley Rescue to clarify things for you. We are a private entity who simply provides a service to the tax payers of Swanton and Highgate. Missisquoi Valley Rescue has since its inception been governed by a board of directors. At one point in time an operations coordinator was a necessity, we have since determined with a changing organization that this is no longer a needed position. Many businesses in these tough economic times have consolidated services, we are simply following suit. The previous operations coordinator had been planning to retire for quite some time; and perhaps you dont recall but Chief Stell began his long and dedicated career in emergency services as a junior member of Missisquoi Valley Rescue-- we as a board of directors whole heartedly support his decision to come back to his roots. What a blessing for the communities we serve to have such a wonderful working relationship between Law Enforcement, EMS and Fire personnel! And please dont be concerned that we are taking any of his time from Village Police matters- he remains as dedicated to his position as he always has, hes simply found that with growing children he now has some free time to get back into something he loves doing. Now as for our selling equipment-- we have been considering this for quite some time. We dont feel its fiscally responsible to keep a piece of equipment that quite frankly few of us on the squad are trained and or certified to use- how wonderful it is for us to be able to help a fellow local department that has the manpower willing and able to keep those certifications current! Those of us who are providing patient care in the back of the actual transport ambulance are already putting in well over a hundred training hours per year in order to maintain certifications and continue providing the excellent care we currently do. We remain quite confident however in the abilities of Swanton Fire and several other local departments who are more than happy to assist us should the need arise for heavy rescue services. I am curious though-- did you miss the part of the channel 16 broadcast where we explained that in an attempt to continue level funding our budget and supplementing with ever changing and unfortunately lessened insurance reimbursements that we have found ourselves under budgeting? Our sincerest apologies to all- and rest assured that we are working diligently to rectify that situation. Ed Daniel Why are we not told these things? Administrator of MVU Rescue has resigned or been relieved of duties? Swanton Village Police Chief is new (acting) administrator? Rescue is $30,000 in debt and selling equipment to reduce debt? Swanton Fire Dept. wants to buy new extraction equipment, will Highgate and Town of Swanton help pay for this? Is Chief Stell doing this on his time or is Village being reimbursed?
