Cultural faux pas of the day: Riding the MAX home from work, my seat mates were 2 Amish couples. Looked like they were straight out of central casting for a movie about the Amish. White linen hats, and plain, long dresses for the women, and long beards and straw hats for the men. Anyway, I could tell they were having trouble deciding where to get off the MAX, so I asked them where they were going. They say Washington Park rose garden, so I told them to get off in the tunnel, at the Oregon Zoo stop, and take the elevator up to street level. One of the men said Really, its a tunnel? I said Yes, and just so you know, your cell service will not work in the tunnel either... They all smiled politely, but I imagine they were thinking, thanks for that information we really dont need!.....Awkward! :)
