(Submitted Photo from Hopewell Township)Spencer Kent | South Jersey Times HOPEWELL TWP. — The township is seeking that the state Board of Public Utilities hold Verizon accountable and meet its legal obligation to fix its deteriorating landline telephone service. On Thursday, the township sent a summary report to the BPU, which is said included 156 “serious” and “chronic” telephone service complaints that the township had compiled from residents over the last three months. Township officials believe this proves Verizon has not properly maintained its copper wire landline infrastructure. Committeeman Greg Facemyer said Verizon is required to give universal service to its landline customers and has an obligation to make sure that the service is reliable. “Keep in mind — 156 complaints equates to 400 to 500 residents that have been hurt by Verizon’s failure to provide reliable telephone service,” Facemyer said. “We are asking the BPU to hold Verizon accountable and protect our seniors citizens, students, farmers and businesses.” In the letter to the BPU, [...] newsinnj/cumberland-county-township-says-residents-have-spoken-verizon-needs-to-fix-its-telephones/
