Curb Appeal I live in a subdivision and I don’t work a normal - TopicsExpress

Curb Appeal I live in a subdivision and I don’t work a normal week of Monday through Friday, so my days off can be any day of the week. An interesting thing happens when I mow my grass, no matter what day it is. I will mow mine and starts a chain reaction. Every yard that touches mine will get mowed that day whether it be by the home owners that come home from work or a yard mowing service. As each yard is mowed, the chain reaction keeps going until all the yards in the subdivision are mowed. The fact that the yards around them have been mowed makes mowing their yard very important. The perception of their property being neglected is simply unacceptable. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it were that easy to get others exercising? Apparently the yard is more important than their own health and fitness. That is because when you do the yard you have the desired result, curb appeal, quickly. You have preserved the perception that your house is in order. There is no better example, of the fact that the really important things in life require work and sacrifice, than our health and fitness. Just as a fresh cut yard doesn’t mean a well kept house, simply being thin doesn’t mean healthy. Strong and lean is different than thin or skinny. Thin is more quickly achievable than strong and lean, just depriving yourself of the food you need and you will get thinner. But strong and lean require work and dedication over a long period of time. Once you are fit, staying that way requires regular attention as well. Only when you have achieved a certain level of fitness will a walk or run feel as satisfying as the couch and the big screen TV. But once you are fit and strong, there are few other things as satisfying as being in motion. We just need to have patience and believe we can, if we put in the time, become strong and fit. Is it time to reevaluate your own priorities? Are you just “mowing the yard” and neglecting the inside? Proper nutrition and exercise are more healthy than dieting. Dieting by definition is taking in less calories than you need to live, so your body will consume it’s stored calories. That will make you thinner but not necessarily healthier. Strive for fit and strong over thin or skinny. It will change you forever. Thanks for reading. Dave
