Cure is not the same as fix. I cringe on cure every time I read - TopicsExpress

Cure is not the same as fix. I cringe on cure every time I read the subtitle of my book A Promise of Hope. But in terms of truth, I need to defend HarperCollins word choice. Cures for deficiency related diseases are common in our modern world. I have been cured of bipolar the same way that I am actively preventing the onset of scurvy and rickets. But cures dont necessarily fix damage done. Ive heard that taking vitamin C after a few years with scurvy wont make your teeth grow back and that taking vitamin D after years of rickets wont straighten your leg bones, either. I know firsthand that taking micronutrients like EMPowerplus after years of raging, labile bipolar symptoms wont instantly solve the damage done in the illness. (And the damage goes far beyond the brain.) No amount of nutrition will restock your maniacally drained bank account or patch up your broken marriage. It took me years to learn to read again. Im still working on some dysfunction like wildly messy closets. However, when we stop the progression of disease in the brain, we give our bodies a chance to heal; and we give ourselves a chance to break nasty habits and to try to make wrongs right again. Cure is a strong word, but it does not mean fix. The fix is in the journey! Today I am so thankful for the micronutrient discovery my dad made for me, for the increased calm, coping ability and clarity of thought that has allowed me to be on this intense and joyful journey for 18 years!
