Current Events In-Depth: Today we take an In-Depth look at the Crimea Conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Since the beginning of March 2014 Ukraine and Russia have been in conflict over Crimea a nation of around 1,000,000 people. Crimea was under the rule of Ukraine until March 11, 2014 when they declared their independence and joined Russia as a federal subject. Crimean Lawmakers voted on this measure before enacting it. The international community with the exception of a few countries question the legality of the vote cast by the lawmakers. Russia has recently been attacking Ukrainian bases in Crimea and took over two Ukrainian Military bases Wednesday. Ukraine said Wednesday they are preparing to pull troops and families out of Crimea. Ukraine is tense on the thought of Russia attempting to take over Ukraine. Ukraine has a military force of 130,000 compared to Russias 845,000 troops. A former diplomat from Ukraine wants The United Nations to suspend Russia from membership to punish them for annexing Crimea.
