Currently our National-lead government is willing to spend $359 - TopicsExpress

Currently our National-lead government is willing to spend $359 million towards a managerial approach to education i.e. paying for expert teachers and principals to lead and mentor fellow practitioners in schools in addition to their own. Staggeringly, roughly one third of this money will be spent on relief/substitute teachers(!). The government believes that this will raise student achievement, while the vast majority of teachers disagree. This is not surprising given the teaching community was not consulted as to how the money would be best spent, and the fact that we live and breathe education and know, without a shadow of doubt, that manageable class sizes, access to support for special needs students and more funding for classroom assistants are much more pressing issues. This is an ideological approach from National. It seems that social variables do not matter- the educational success of children is solely determined by the quality of the teacher and their administration. Heres to all those teachers out there all over the country who are putting the interests of our kids first. https://youtube/watch?v=KEd0iFqiYpc
