Currently, people with disabilities cant have more than $2000.00 - TopicsExpress

Currently, people with disabilities cant have more than $2000.00 in savings or make more than $680.00 per month and still qualify for SSI or Medicaid. That means disabled people who are capable of having some kind of employment are punished for doing so. You cant live indepently, with medical problems, on $680.00 per month. The ABLE act wont fix everything, but its a start. It allows tax free savings, like a 529, for qualified expenses, yet wont disqualify people from services that they desparately need. It passed the House yesterday, by a wide margin, and I called my senators today to request they approve it too!
