Currently traveling with the U.S. Soy Export Council (USSEC) in Ecuador. Our first stop in Guayaquill was lunch with APROBAL members who own Tilapia, Shrimp, and polyculture farms (Shrimp and Tilapia). This is an association that goes together to purchase feed and supplies. They are concerned about the cost of soybeans from the U.S. as it is $100 more per ton. They are willing to pay $8 per protein point which makes the $100 more per ton easier to absorb but still a concern. As an example Argentina averages 8 protein points as the U.S. averages 24-30 protein points.
