There were 789 varsity athletes and 1035 junior varsity athletes participating from Idaho, Washington and Montana. All of our athletes stepped up to the challenge and ran well. Of our 18 runners, twelve recorded personal records and four recorded season’s best times. Jacelin Augare led the girls team with a personal best of 21:26. Also with personal bests were seniors Amanda Finstad (22:35), Shyanne Racine (22:50) and freshman Nicole Billedeaux (23:20). All three girls cut nearly a minute off of their previous week’s times. Whitney Fultz ran a 23:50. Whitney did an excellent job, cutting two minutes off her beginning of the year time. Whitney is working hard and getting her times down to where they should be. Rounding out the line-up for the girls was Hailey Collins (28:30) and Laura LaTray (43:10). This was Hailey’s first official race and we are looking for her to continue to improve. Laura had a great race, cutting 3 minutes off last week’s time. The girls had their best 1-5 split of the year at 2:24. For the first time this year, our top six boys were all under the 20-minute mark for a three-mile race. Jared Berkram ran the best race of his four years, with a personal record of 17:14. Junior Logan Meeks also set a personal record of 18:09. Nate Wynn ran a strong race, barely missing his personal best, with a 18:26. Finishing out the top five were freshmen Jemiah Peveler (18:55) and Tyrell Sylvester (19:34). Both also recorded personal records this weekend. Dayln Morgan (19:51), Josh Biegler (20:45) and Bill Giddings (23:00) had season best times and are continuing to improve every week. Josh just missed his personal record by 30 seconds. Also competing for the Wolves were David Taylor (23:20), Tyler Guardipee (24:26) and Seth Moran (25:05). All three had personal bests with David cutting two and a half minutes off his time, Tyler a minute and a half off. Seth also cut a minute from last week’s time. The 1-5 split for the boys was 2:20. Gavin Ehlert, Abbi Fitzpatrick and Katelynn Larson participated in the middle school races. Gavin placed 34th out of 266 runners with a time of 8:06. Abbi placed 41st (8:52) and Katelynn placed 45th (8:55) out of 229 runners. All three ran great races against tough competition. We feel very positive after this meet. The athletes ran extremely well and are improving each week. This was a good preview for the state meet as it will be the same course. Our runners like this course and had a good showing on it. Our next competition will be at the Havre Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5. Middle school races begin at 10 a.m., followed by JV races at 11 a.m. and varsity races at 12:20 p.m. The meet will be held on the Northern Campus.
