Cyclist Struck On July 15th, 2013 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a cyclist was riding his bike in the area of Barton Street East and Dewitt Road when he was struck by a vehicle. The 73-year old victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The Hamilton Police continue to investigate. Break and Enter (Commercial) On July 16th, 2013 at approximately 12:30 a.m., suspects entered the rear compound of a retail business on Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North. The suspects entered the premise in the hopes of stealing scrap metal. A security officer for the business observed the suspects on surveillance video and confronted the two. One of the suspects fled on foot while the other attempted to hide in the area. Police were called and K9 attended for a search of the area. The suspect was located by HPS K9 officer and arrested without incident. The 23-year-old Hamilton man was held for a bail hearing. The second suspect is still outstanding and the Hamilton Police Service BEAR Unit continues to investigate. Charges: Break and Enter Breach of Undertaking Suspicious Circumstances On July 15th, 2013 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a construction site on Glover Road to investigate reports a bomb threat. An employee located a handwritten note on site indicating that a bomb was in the building. The area was evacuated prior to police arrival without incident. Once police were on scene, the building was cleared and nothing of a suspicious nature was found. The Ministry of Labour attended and once the area was deemed safe workers were permitted back on site. It is unknown at this time who is responsible for leaving the message.
