D.C. Day 1-Posted by Heaven, Daniel, and Alex: We began our morning early at 8:00 AM. First, we traveled to the White House to sight see and learn about the design of Washington D.C. created by Pierre L’Enfante, who was handpicked by George Washington himself. Then, we walked to the Church of the Presidents (St. Johns Church) where all of the presidents since James Madison have worshipped and prayed to the Lord God in pew 54. Next, we drove to the National Cathedral to see true gothic architecture in the United States. We had lunch in the Supreme Court building on tables over 100 years old. We embarked to the capitol building after lunch and had a private tour of the rotunda, which contained several pieces of extremely valuable art and sculptures. We then sat in the House of Representatives and learned about the voting process and the architecture within the room. We also saw that a sculpture of Moses is located directly across from the Speaker of the House during sessions. We then traveled to the National Archives where we observed the original documents of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Afterwards, we went to the National Museum of Art where we saw many unique pieces of Christian art and the only painting by Leonardo da Vinci in America. Finally, we finished our day with dinner at Union Station. We gained a plethora of information and had a lot of fun experiencing D.C
