D. Velayutham, president, Tamil Maruthuva Kazhagam, an association promoting Siddha system of medicine, told The Hindu that the situation was primarily caused by the delay in CCIM representatives visiting the colleges for assessment. “There are two elected members each from Tamil Nadu and Kerala representing Siddha in CCIM. They should have ensured that permission decisions were taken without delay.” Dr. Velayutham also fears that such delay in counselling and admission may lead to meritorious candidates choosing other courses.
