DAILY DEVOTIONALS July 22, 2014 I AM A NEW CREATION IN HIM!! One thing that I had to get rid of when I got born again was the mentality that I am filthy and not good enough for Christ, I had to give up the dwelling on my imperfections and thinking of my past. So many a times I encountered people from the past telling me with the way I used to live how was I really going to pull through being a Christian, but I would just smile and remind myself that Jesus did His job fully and I am no longer that man I used to be. You see, when people look at you, they will try to associate you with your past mistakes, with the person you used to be, what they will fail to realise is that you are no longer that person, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17). It is no longer I who lives but it is Christ who lives in me (Galatians 2:20). When the devil reminds you of your past then remind him of his future, you are no longer travelling the same path, your destiny no longer is a sudden encounter with death and eternal separation from God, Jesus died for you to be forgiven, so that’s the deal, your new identity is in Christ, and when God looks at you He doesn’t see your sin but He sees His own righteousness shining through you, for you have received this by His grace and faith through Jesus Christ. Don’t walk around throwing pity parties for yourself, on how you used to be a sinner and all that, stop dragging your dirty past into your clean present, know who you are now, you are now the beloved Child of God (1 John 3:2) and I don’t care what people may tell you, but they don’t know you like God does, so it is your choice to believe them or God. Life becomes better when you know which word to believe, the world’s or God’s. Excuse me but I am a new creation, I might be whatever to other people but to God I am perfect, and the devil has got nothing on me. Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I boldly approach Your holy throne knowing that I am more than meets the eye, I am the beloved child of God, redeemed from sin and no longer living in bondage, but free to live righteously through Your Son Jesus Christ who came and laid down His life so that I could gain His life, I thank You for all You have done for me and I choose today to believe Your word over anyone else’s, I pray that I start seeing myself like You see me, I pray that You enable me to see myself through Your eyes Oh Lord. I may not be the perfect person people want me to be but I know that I am the child You want me to be and You are not done with me, but I am a working progress and sooner than I know I shall be all You created me to become, I pray for all this and more in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and personal Saviour, Amen. It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
