DAILY (RAMADAN) TAFSEER DATE: YAOMUL- THULATHȂ’, 14TH RAMADAN 1434AH (TUESDAY, 22nd JULY, 2013 CE) ANCHOR: Yusuf Ismail Danjuma Bismillahir-Rahmānir-Raheem. Allahuma Salli ‘ala Muhammad Wa ‘ala Ahlihi Wa Ashābih, Wa ba’ad Today’s verse enjoins us to make provision for the hereafter. Let us remember we are to live in this world for sometime and certainly, we shall all die when it is time. Let us provide answer to these two posers: 1. If you die now, what will be the reaction of Allah towards you? Will you get a red carpet treatment or resume in the abode where the wrath of Allah will perpetually be your companion? 2. Will people give positive or negative remarks after your demise? Today’s verse in focus advises us to have prepared answers to the above questions. THE VERSE IN FOCUS Sūratul-Hashr, chapter 56, revealed in Madinah is a 23 verse Sūrah. O you who believe! Fear Allāh and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look for what he has sent forth for tomorrow, and fear Allāh. Verily, Allāh is Well-Acquainted with what you do The above quoted verse is advising us to fear Allāh in our private and public lives. We all see the way we fear the people in authority in a bid to earn their pleasure and be protected from their displeasure (if Allah wills) just in this empty life. Why can’t we do so for Allāh who has the absolute control of this life and the life beyond? Furthermore, it is discernible from the above verse the need to make good and adequate preparation for the hereafter. From the divine view, it can be done through Al-amru bil ma’rūf Wa -nahyu anil-munkar i.e. Enjoining and doing the righteous of deeds and abstaining from and campaigning against the doing of impermissible deeds. From human realm, we should observe and protect the right of the individuals. This is done by ensuring the safety of our fellow beings. The last part of the verse asserts that Allāh is aware of all that we do. By implication, we can’t deceive God, doing good to earn public accolade will fetch us nothing before Allāh, we all know when we deceive ourselves. My concluding question is; where will be your place of abode when you die now, heel or paradise? And what we be the remarks of your fellow beings if you kick the bucket now, good or bad?
