DANCE TYPE: Conga PROFESSIONAL PARTNERS: Dr. Le’Brian Patrick and Leonard Augustus, Jr. STUDIO: The Dancers’Workshop Born in Lafayette, Stephanie Anderson first moved to Baton Rouge to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in accounting at LSU. Her first job landed her in New Orleans, working for an international accounting firm, though she transferred back to Baton Rouge a few years later, and ultimately began working for Woman’s Hospital. 24 years later, she is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Woman’s Hospital. Stephanie is also a CPA. Stephanie and her husband, David, have three sons: Michael (22), Stephen (20), and Eric (15). WHY BIG BUDDY? It took some convincing for Stephanie to appear on stage tonight! “When I was approached about participating in this event, my first reaction was “NO!” I do not consider myself a star or celebrity in any way; I prefer to be “behind the scenes” whenever possible….and I am definitely not a dancer. However, the more I learned about the Big Buddy Program, the harder it was to say no. Through Woman’s Hospital, I have dedicated my career to serving the women and children of this community, and Big Buddy is a natural complement to that mission. The program is essential in our community, and I am so impressed by the many educational and mentoring programs and services they offer that benefit children.” Stephanie views this experience as an opportunity to step out of her comfort zone and learn something new. She has taken this journey as a way to get directly involved with the Little Buddies and to raise awareness of Big Buddy’s work in the community—and she is happy she reconsidered her first “no” response! “As a mother of three, I know how critical it is to have positive role models and mentors to guide children to success. If I can help even one child have a better life experience or achieve his/her potential by participating in this event, how could I say no? After all, these kids are the real “stars,” and they are our future.”
