DARE TO BE A MAN This the title of an extremely successful sermon series and book title by Bishop David G. Evans. Bishop Evans sermons and book help men to understand what it means to be a man in the eyes of God and the many challenges that go along with becoming that man. It would be assumed that if a man desires to be the man God has intended for us to be that not only would people respect that but he would receive much encouragement but it almost seems to be the opposite. If a man has come to the understanding of what it means to truly be the man God has intended he will soon see that being such a man almost puts him on the opposite end of what is popular and appreciated in the worlds system. The worlds system is centered on getting a blessing where Gods system is centered on being a blessing. I hate to say it but many churches, certainly not all, seem to be centered on the worlds system more that Gods almost treating God like a geanie in a bottle. But as men we must realize the often the biggest challenges that we may encounter when fully giving ourselves to God may come from our own house and family members. The bibles even tells us this is true Matthew 10:34-38 think not that I come as peace but I as a sword putting son against father and daughter against...and a mans foe may even be the members of his own house Understand when you as the leader change rules in the middle of the game it not only cause confusion it can cause division. It cause people to choose sides some will want things to remain the same while others will appreciate Dads change in leadership style which is now based on full surrender and commitment to God. This does not mean that Dads leadership was necessarily bad, it just might not have been what was best for the house in the long run. As a man I know the challenges of being the leader or head, they can be quite hard at times and sometimes it can be hard to make the hard call, the kind where you know what is right is according to God but doing so may make you come out as the bad guy and may even cause the people of your own household to stop speaking to you and now we enter in being tempted to compromise, do it almost like God has instructed. But lets remember how the first compromise ended. Adam failed to follow what God had instructed him to do and it not only got him evicted from his paradise living arrangement in the Garen of Eden but also loosed sin and destruction on all of humanity from that day forward. As leaders it is of the utmost importantance to be the men God has called us to be because we may be the only thing that stands between destruction and blessings for our households. You see the truth is nothing happened to Adam and Eve until Adam ate of the fruit he was actually the last line of defense and the covering for the household they were still coveed through his obedience. But I will leave you with this in Ezekiel 23: God said I sought for a man to stand in the gap to make the hedge that I would not pour out my indignation but I found no man, so.... God is still seeking for a man in the places he has called for them to be but sadly things have not changed and probably gotton worst. Men are still noticeably absent from their assigned post and even those that are in place are often asleep on the job or out of position with God. Fathers have been replaced with babies daddies and what it means to be good father has been reduced to paying child support on time . Thank God for the power of a mothers love and many mothersdc that have gone far beyond what seems to be humanly possible at times to keep us kids from destruction. And to you the few men that remained on your posts sometimes feeling misunderstood and unappreciated thank you for staying true to the cause for your labor is not in vain.
