DART SETS MILESTONE - here is a Press release that was run in The Messenger this week, in case you missed it. Diamonds Animal Rescue Team is an ALL VOLUNTEER, non-profit organization that began October 2012 set a milestone last month when they rescued a total of 236 dogs and 108 cats for the period ranging from October 2012 to July 2013. “Due to this dramatic increase in rescues, euthanasia at Union City Animal Control hit a record low and saved substantial taxpayer money,” a spokesman said, adding “Animals are held at the animal control facility for 8 days for owners to re-claim, available for adoption on the 9th day and then taken to vets to be euthanized after that." Union City residents who have lost their pets are encouraged to call the animal control department at 731-885-7011 or go to its facility on North Fifth Street.
