DARVEL MUSIC FESTIVAL - MANY HUES OF BLUES AT DARVEL! Throughout November, Ian Siegal will tour as a duo with Jimbo Mathus, the Grammy-nominated songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Mississippi. They will perform twenty one shows in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Belgium and Holland. The Darvel concert on Friday 28 November is only one of two Scottish dates on their tour schedule. For devotees of blues and Americana, Ian Siegal needs no introduction. He’s a seven-time British Blues Awards winner, a European Blues Awards winner, and US Blues Music Awards nominee. Ian Siegal is known as a bluesman, but it’s just one shade in the palette of an artist who slips between continents, eras and expectations. They say you can’t sing the blues until you’ve lived the life, and when Ian Siegal steps up to the microphone, you can hear the slings and arrows. Recent years have seen the songwriter catch fire, with British Blues Awards raining down and consecutive nominations in 2012 & 2013 for Contemporary Album of The Year in the Blues Music Awards. Jimbo Mathus first met Ian Siegal in 2013 when Mathus dropped by the Zebra Ranch studio in Coldwater Mississippi to contribute some banjo and mandolin parts to a Siegal recording. The two discovered a shared passion for many of the same musical influences. Jimbo has pursued a variety of musical projects. Among these, he toured and recorded with Buddy Guy and is a founding member of the South Memphis String Band with long-time collaborators Luther Dickinson and Alvin Youngblood Hart. It is sixteen years since Jimbo Mathus last toured in Europe. With the resurgence of blues and Americana on this side of the Atlantic he has timed his return just right. San Antonio, Texas based Ruben V performs a fresh, original smooth blend of Latin Blues & Rock that is rooted on thirty years of musical performances, touring, and recording experiences. In addition to the one hundred and twenty shows a year Ruben performs, he has also shared the stage with B.B. King, Robert Cray, George Thorogood, Buddy Guy and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Among Ruben’s credits are awards and accolades such as being awarded the title of “Best Guitar Player”, “Best Songwriter” and also “Best Blues Band” by the city of San Antonio multiple times. Ruben has just released a new album entitled “True” and this will be the first time Ruben V has ever played in Scotland! Bluesman Kris Dollimore has played with many international bands and artists including The Godfathers, The Damned, Dee Dee Ramone and Johnny Thunders. He’s also a member of Del Amitri. As a solo artist Kris has toured the length and breadth of the UK & Europe and has released three critically acclaimed solo albums to date. Kris’s guitar skills have always been admired in whichever genre he has played. Now those skills are honed to perfection and they need to be, he has chosen a field where his playing is at its most exposed. A man, a guitar and a voice. No room for error and nowhere to hide. With a largely acoustic repertoire, precision playing is expected and delivered by Dollimore, earning him a hard core following of loyal fans and admirers including Johnny Depp, David Bowie and Chrissie Hynde. Expect Bluesy guitar playing, soulful singing and foot stomping sounds at Darvel! Tickets are NOW on sale – for all information please go to darvelmusicfestival.org – PLEASE NOTE - East Ayrshire resident concessions apply ONLY at selected sales outlets if tickets are purchased in advance of the concert dates and therefore cannot be obtained at the ticket desk at the Town Hall on the evenings of the shows.
