DAVEYTON SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME: One of the former members of this programme in his 40s now tells about the programme. " Firstly, I would urge the youth of Daveyton to revive this beautiful programme. Both learners/students and non-students, particularly youth. This will further boost the self-esteem of individuals and further open the scope of exposure to the world of work, play and talent nurishment and unleash of youth potentials. We went to a number of places in-and-around PWV region (now Gauteng Province), including SABC studios at Aucklandpark, Botanical Gardens in Pretoria, both JHB&PTA Zoo. We also had our our Debating Society. The programme produced renowned Corporate Managers like Matthews Qalaza and Major Radio talk-show hosts like Khanyi Magubane (SAfm), Businesswoman like Moitheki Malaza and list goes on. The programme was funded by the then Department of Social Welfare in the 1980s (1987) onwards. We had lunches and trips paid for by the Department. Mrs Peloyahae was the Senior Social Worker at the time and she had dedicated Social Workers Beauty and Chetta. So, Daveyton Updates is calling on the youth of Daveyton to revive this programme by first making enquiries at the Social Workers offices at the Victor Ndlazilwane.
