DAY 107 – We started off the day by changing one of our caravan - TopicsExpress

DAY 107 – We started off the day by changing one of our caravan tyres as Dave noticed the steel was starting to show. We sure do wish tyre repairers wouldn’t make those wheel nuts so tight….much swearing. We eventually got it changed and then off we headed west to Albany – with no wind this morning (this was still to come). We arrived in town for some shopping but as it was Sunday not too many shops were open so decided to head north and do a loop through Mount Barker and Porongurup. It was a lovely drive up to Mount Barker which is a nice sized town with a lovely information centre. We did the short drive up the Hill lookout which gave us fantastic views of the whole area and then visited St Werburgh’s Chapel which sits on a farmer’s land a few ks out of the town. We then headed back east towards the little village of Porongurup, and that dreaded wind has come up again, where we have settled in for the night at a caravan park (yuck don’t like those places). We even got around to putting up the Christmas decorations. DAY 108 – The wind eased off overnight and quite a nice day today so we headed to Porongurup – Castle Rock Skywalk. Boy that 2.2 kilometres was uphill all the way and heavy going. I made it to Balancing Rock but Dave made it to the Skywalk where we had beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. After a refreshing lunch and break we headed south to Albany again as we had to organise for a new tyre, etc. We had to have a Macca’s coffee as it was just down the road from the tyre place and then it was off to Middleton Beach and Ellen Cove Boardwalk. We sure got spoilt with the beaches at Esperance as even though these beaches are quite lovely they don’t come up to the standards of the Esperance beaches. We did a few hundred yards of the boardwalk and then headed back and out just north-east of Albany to our overnight stop.
