DAY 180 – DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED ------------------------------------------------------ “So the last will be first, and the first last.” – Matthew 20:16 Some people feel that they are last by the estimate of men or by their own estimate. Do not feel discouraged; God’s estimate is not men’s estimate. Though you may think you are last, the LORD may not think so at all. Though you may say, “I am not worthy to be an apostle,” God may think you worth putting into apostleship. God’s idea of your worthiness and your own differ greatly – and his estimate is the true one. Let’s suppose you are indeed last, but “the LORD gives more grace.” The LORD Jesus came, not only that we may have life, but that we have it “more abundantly.” Do not be content with what you have. Seek earnestly the best gifts. Still go after much more grace. God is able to do for us exceedingly, abundantly and above all that we may ask, think or imagine. Go after great things. The LORD says, “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” If your mouth is small, the LORD is able to make it bigger than it is. The faith of believing prayer grows by being used. The more you ask, the more you may ask – and the more you have asked, the more you will ask. The capacity to receive is increased by receiving. May the LORD let it be to us, if we are last. Remember also, that if you are one of the least useful, your right spirit will compensate for your poverty in that area, and make your little service very precious. If you cannot get a wide sphere, don’t seek after it. Don’t seek after a thousand people, if you are currently teaching a hundred. A hundred people are quite enough for you to be accountable for – and if you faithfully carry out your duty to those souls, you surely have more than enough to do. Wish for a bigger responsibility if you are capable of fulfilling it. The best way to prepare for greater usefulness is to be faithful in your present condition.
