DAY #2: ISAIAH’S PROPHECY – Ever stop to think of the word - TopicsExpress

DAY #2: ISAIAH’S PROPHECY – Ever stop to think of the word “Immanuel?” Consider that Isaiah prophesied, “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel.” (Isaiah 7: 14) He was literally predicting the future that the One who spoke the galaxies into existence would dwell among us. That’s exactly what “Immanuel” means – “GOD with us.” Isaiah prophesies about the Messiah who would ultimately deliver GOD’s people from their sins. But the main concern for Isaiah and those with him during his time was the protection of Judah against their enemies. Judah was shaken between two powerful kingdoms. GOD, however, promised King Ahaz that the birth of Isaiah’s son, Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz, would be a sign that Judah would be spared. “Before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste.” Isaiah 7: 16 It wasn’t until after the birth of Jesus, 700yrs later, that it was clear that the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy in the birth of his son was a type, and the anti-type was Jesus the Messiah. While Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz was a sign guaranteeing GOD’s temporary salvation of Judah, Jesus Christ – the true Immanuel – embodied the ultimate and eternal salvation of GOD’s chosen ones from sin and death.
