DAY 2 OF The Beginners Guide to Juicing by Linda Kordich PURCHASING NATURAL FOODS If you cannot afford to purchase Natural Foods, please know something ok? It is not that expensive! So get that thought out of your head. This Beginners Guide to Juicing is going to help you FIND the hidden gems and use them for your benefit and it wont cost you an arm and a leg as the old saying goes But first, let me share a little bit of our history with you! You will understand a lot more when you read what we have to say. [I usually dont like to follow others who like to teach, but havent lived their talk, so I thought I would share a bit of our personal lives with you so you can see, that we know what its like to struggle]. Like us, you too can eat healthily for pennies on the dollar. Back in 1981 when I married Jay, we had already, independently, lived many years within the world of vegetarianism and juicing. I was raised as a vegetarian from the time I reached 10 years old [1965] and was juicing with my mother by the time I reached 11. Then when I met Jay when I turned 25, we had so much in common ... and had such a powerful initial connection, that meeting him for the first time was like walking into an old house that I grew up in, fully knowing where each room was located and how each piece of furniture belonged to certain rooms, and also I knew instinctively where the sun was coming up and which rooms the sun would shine the strongest. Thats what it felt like when I met Jay Kordich for the first time! In our book we talk about how we got married in one day, and all that, but thats a long story! However, I am here to tell you that both Jay and I carry a lot of knowledge and experience as to what works and what does not work and what is a fad and what is not a fad as it relates to juicing, blending, and eating a natural foods diet. OUR HISTORY: Even though we both came from very humble beginnings [living out of our Van for 3 years] Jay and I eventually became quite wealthy in the 90s, by bringing to the Nation the Power of Juicing, and then, several years later, due to unforseen circumstances, we ended up being beaten up by billion dollar corporations and hidden where we were forced not to be out in public, teaching, selling, motivating or whatever we wanted to do, because of trademark infringement challenges we faced. So for many years [about 15] we didnt really have an income. By the year 2008, the stock market crash ended what we had left, and we were forced to live in a very small home with barely any cash left, except a few pieces of jewelry I had saved that Jay had purchased for me. We KNOW what its like to live on the limited income of Social Security and how each penny counts. At one time in our lives, for many years, we could give away a million dollars and it wouldnt have phased us. But now we know the emotional and financial challenges so many of us face on a day to day basis. I find this to be an important factor in my teaching because I know the emotional ups and downs and frustrations many of us feel as a result of not feeling that our income can keep us vitally healthy. BEING FINANCIALLY CHALLENGED DOES NOT MEAN WE HAVE TO EAT A POOR DIET! The real problem with eating poorly is tht not only does it ravage the delicate balance of our inner ecosystem; it also has a way of getting us down emotionally. Where there is NO life-force, there is very little nourishment. I mean this both emotionally, spiritually and physically. So the answer is ... discovering the power behind the Life-force in our foods and choosing the foods that contain the highest levels of Life-force is key. Strangely enough, it does not mean we have to spend a lot of money to achieve this! For the past five or six years we have had to live off of very little income for food for two people. So we have found a WAY to eat a really rich, nutritious vegan diet on [average] $75.00 per week and still juice twice daily and eat at least two meals a day. Sometimes its more than $75.00 and sometimes its less, depending on the bulk foods we purchase. Heres how we do it and how you can do it too! First and foremost we need to make sure that we have a good connection to buying produce at very low prices. We have a store here in the Pacific Northwest called: Cash & Carry. Heres the LINK for you: smartfoodservice/locations/ jetro/ restaurantdepot/locations These are just some of the offshoots from Cash & Carry. These stores sell wholesale produce and foods, by bulk as well as lots of Organic Foods and Greens. You dont have to have a membership or a restaurant in order to purchase from them. Jay and I buy all of our Organic Baby Field Greens, Organic Spinach and Tofu and Beans, Rice and Carrots, Avocados, Bananas, Garlic, Ginger, Celery, Cucumbers, Kale, Parsley and so many more products ... mostly all Organic, and ALL for fractions of the cost from Co-ops and other Organic Grocery stores. For example, we buy 2 pounds of Spinach for $3.50. And we buy 25 pounds of Carrots for $6.00 - $8.00. We also buy their Fuji Apples [5 pound bag] for $3.50. We also buy Organic OATS and make oatmeal in the mornings during the cold winter months. We also buy our Raisins there too. TRADER JOES Do you live near a Trader Joes? Some of their foods are worth purchasing! We purchase the LOW FAT COCONUT MILK from there. The only ingredient is Coconut Milk. We also buy our Organic Coconut Oil from Trader Joes for next to nothing! It sells for around $5.00 for 16 ounces. We also do NOT recommend buying any of their foods containing Canola Oil. All of their products are riddled with Canola Oil, so please be aware of this! We use the Coconut MILK in many of our super green smoothies and our Oatmeal in the morning. This is why I wanted to share our current life story with you so that you know we are coming from a real authentic place of knowledge. We are not here to create a fantasy or create an illusion. We too are living under a challenging financial situation but it doesnt have to dictate to YOU what you are going to eat. We all just need to get creative! The most important thing we possess in life [besides Love, Kindness and Forgiveness of course] is our Attitude. No matter what faces us in life, we have the power to choose how to react, how to feel and how to be. Be optimistic and start to believe that nothing can hold you back and do your best to eat healthily and JUICE and BLEND daily. In just a few days, once you get your kitchen organized and your food ready and cleaned and prepared, youll begin to feel like 100 pounds is lifted and youre going to start feeling so good! HOW IS THAT? IT ALL HAS TO DO WITH OUR TASTE BUDS ... Once you start to JUICE [and sometimes when you blend] you will start to notice that the cookies, crackers and chips are not so desirable anymore. And once you have that feeling where you start to crave a salad over a piece of pie, youre more than halfway there! This usually starts about the 5th day of the new change in JUICING, EATING AND BLENDING, especially when you incorporate the GREENS into your daily choices. This is what is so powerful about Juicing. It not only transforms our palate and eating habits, but also brings light to our own personal and spiritual life. MORE TO COME ...
