DAY 4, 97 REMAINING Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. Today, our watchword is from, Zechariah 4:5,”So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, Do you not know what these are? And I said, No, my lord. 6Then he said to me, This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. 7What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of Grace, grace to it!… CHARACTERISTICS: -A Champion of the Philistine -Height Six cubit and a span (over 9 ft) Weapon/Instrument HELMET OF brass upon his Head Armed with a coat of mail weighing 5,000 shekels of brass Greaves of brass upon his legs Target of brass between his shoulders Spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel 1Samuel 17:4, “And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. 5 And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. 6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. 7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. 8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. 9 If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us. 10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.” While Goliath relied solely on his personal and physical attributes, a champion with up to date, state of the art equipments and instruments of war. The Philistines’ military tactics, strategies and logistics of war, and the spiritual backing of their own gods. No wonder Goliath assertion that, 17:10a “I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.” 43” And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.” CHARACTERISTICS: -An Anointed of the most high God -Small, young and inexperience Weapon/Instrument Helmet of Salvation upon his head Shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the wicked Feet shod with the preparation of Gospel of peace Breastplate of righteousness over his shoulder Taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God Wearing the whole armour of God Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Psalm 20: 6-9, “6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9 Save, Lord: let the king hear us when we call.” Culled from my book-EMPTY- “EMPOWERING TEENS AND YOUTH” The account of the battle between David and Goliath is told in 1 Samuel, chapter 17.[3] Saul and the Israelites are facing the Philistines near the Valley of Elah. Twice a day for 40 days, Goliath, the champion of the Philistines, comes out between the lines and challenges the Israelites to send out a champion of their own to decide the outcome in single combat, but Saul and all the Israelites are afraid. David, bringing food for his elder brothers, hears that Saul has promised to reward any man who defeats Goliath, and accepts the challenge. Saul reluctantly agrees and offers his armor, which David declines, taking only his sling and five stones from a brook. David and Goliath confront each other, Goliath with his armor and shield, David with his staff and sling. The Philistine cursed David by his gods. but David replies: This day Jehovah will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down; and I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that God saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is God’s, and he will give you into our hand.[4] David hurls a stone from his sling with all his might and hits Goliath in the center of his forehead, Goliath falls on his face to the ground, and David cuts off his head. The Philistines flee and are pursued by the Israelites as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron. David puts the armor of Goliath in his own tent and takes the head to Jerusalem, and Saul sends Abner to bring the boy to him. The king asks whose son he is, and David answers, I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite. This crusade, battle, emancipation and empowerment, is the God given challenge before me of weak strength, low skills and links, foolish and poor, to carry out to every part of the globe to ensure: emancipation from mental slavery, acquiring skills, knowledge, self believe and self esteem, by todays Teens And Youth to produce capable leaders for tomorrow. Amen. Therefore, this battle is more than a war of, Goliath against Saul, nor Philistine against Israel, nor armies of Philistine against Israel, but also, the gods of the Philistines against the God of Israel. David relied on past victory by the mercy of the Lord, but note here how he was able to draw strength and boldness from past victories, “34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 and I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.”
