DAY #8 – TIDINGS OF COMFORT AND JOY: Without the resurrection of Jesus, there’s no point in discussing Christmas. As the Apostle Paul said, “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith” (1 Corinthians 15: 14). First, most scholars agree that Jesus was buried in a private tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Jewish court that condemned Jesus to death and therefore an unlikely character of Christian fiction. Even the earliest Jewish response to the resurrection of Christ already assumes an empty tomb. Early Christianity could not have survived an identifiable tomb containing the corpse of Christ. We can’t forget that Jesus gave His disciples many convincing proofs that He had risen from the dead. The Apostle Paul points out that Christ “appeared to more than 500 of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living” (1 Corinthians 15: 6). Paul is challenging any skeptics to ask any of the 500 for themselves. Finally, the result of the Resurrection is unheard of in human history. A small band of insignificant believers succeeded in turning an empire upside-down. It is beyond belief that they would have been willing to die for what they knew to be a lie. And so, we can confidently embrace Christ’s miraculous conception in the womb of the virgin Mary. Enjoy this song selection -- https://youtube/watch?v=wvAc8OAIlfg
