DAY 87 – YOUR EFFORTS NOT NEEDED ---------------------------------------------------- If a man is not in a state in which God can justify him, then he is in a state in which God must condemn him. If you not just before God, you are condemned already. You are not executed. The judgement has not been passed yet, but condemnation has been meted out to you. The confirmation of this condemnation is your unbelief – for he who does not belief is condemned already, because he has not believes on the son of God. This means God has lifted his hand against you, even though his mercy delays the execution for a while. But the hours and minutes will soon come to end. We can never be justified before God by our own doing. We must not even try to do anything on our own with the hope of being justified before God. The past is past, and there is nothing we can do about it. We cannot go to our yesterdays and correct our mistakes. Salvation by obeying the law of God is a futile exercise and a waste of time. Unless we keep the law of God perfectly, it does not matter how close we get into perfection. When the Holy Spirit bring a man to Christ, he discovers that his life has been damaged badly by serious offences against God. Before his Spirit come into our soul - it is like being in a dark room and we cannot see in it. We cannot see the dangerous creatures that lurk in darkness. When the Holy Spirit comes streaming into the soul, the man is shocked to find out the real state of himself. It becomes worse when the enlightened soul reads the perfect law of God with the divine help of the Holy Spirit. Unless you truly see your filthiness and shame, you will never see the need of a Savior in your life. And the Holy Spirit does exactly that early in the life of a believer. Unless you are pulled down, Christ will never lift you up. It is important to be just before God, and self-righteousness and religion don’t give that to any person. It is impossible for us to be just before God as a result of our own efforts. Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ and be saved.
