DAY SIXTEEN Meditate on Gods Word Daily Oh how I love thy law. The psalmist penned these profound words that have been echoed in the hearts of millions of believers over the centuries. The only way that mankind has known of God, and of His ways, is through the revelation of His Word. Through His Word we know that God is love. Through His Word we know that man is a sinner in need of a Savior. Through His Word we know that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became that Savior by taking on our sins on the cross of Calvary. And through His Word we learn that we can receive this salvation by grace through faith in the sacrificial death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ! When we learn these wonderful things in Scripture we can join the great cloud of witnesses in crying out, Oh how I love Your law! Jesus called the Scriptures the Bread of Life. In the same way that our bodies require daily nourishment, so do our spirits. Through the Bible we can also learn of Gods righteous requirements for the believer. God has given us instructions for right living in the Bible because He desires our highest good. Through it we get to know Him personally; and we understand that His ways are best for us. Writing to the Romans, the Apostle Paul said of the Word of God: Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. They give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for Gods promises (Romans 15:4 NLT). Hope and encouragement come from hearing and reading the Word of God! Have you established a regular part of your day to receive the hope and encouragement God promises? Start today by spending quality time in Bible study and Devotion to the Lord -- and you too will say, Oh, how I love Your law! Action Point While you are investing in the examination of your soul, open the Bible and dig deeper. If you dont have a daily Bible reading routine, begin one today. Start in the Gospel of John and the Psalms. Read a chapter in each every day to begin with, then go on to other books. Handle your Bible right now. Are you comfortable with it? It is important to understand what a privilege it is to have your own copy of the Scriptures and to have the freedom to read it as you please. Do not take that freedom for granted. Soak it up. In it is revival! Prayer Heavenly Father, I ask that the light of Gods Word would change me into the image of Christ as I study Your Word. Help me to put off my old self with its habits and to put on the new self in Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:9-10). Lord, as I renew my mind through the Word of God, I pray that the likeness of Christ would shine through me to a lost world. Help me to know You and Your ways through the revelation of Your Word today.
