DAY TWENTY-EIGHT: Pray4Somalia & Pray4Pakistan SOMALIA, EAST AFRICA Somalia has not had a functioning government since 1991. Warlords controlled different territories until 2011. Now a relative peace has come to Somalia, but the United Nations is still reporting rampant corruption. Pray for an end to corruption in Somalia. Pray for the poor in Somalia who face the hardest of times; pray for their needs to be met. Pray for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this land where Islam has strong roots (The Bible, Psalm 101). PAKISTAN, SOUTH ASIA In Sukkur, Islamic militants bombed Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency and a residential housing building for police officers. The blasts killed 9 and injured 38. According to Pakistan’s State TV, it is “the worst attack in Pakistan during the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan so far.” Pray for the end of Islamic militancy in Pakistan. Ask God to shield government officials from further attacks and violence. Ask the Lord to physically and spiritually heal those injured in the bombings (The Bible, John 10:10).
