DCL 2013---Day 15 Match Reports By: Gowhar Geelani DCL Match 50: Alkhuddam Make Ad-Life Chase Leather All Day September 30, 2013: Alkhuddam (Nowhatta) — a team which has earned reputation of scoring big runs — once again lived up to expectations of its fans to score 238/3 in 20 overs against Ad-Life Stars (Khayam) to win the match by over 100 run margin in match 50 on Monday’s evening fixture at the University of Kashmir grounds. This is the second time in the coveted tournament when Team Alkhuddam scored over 235 runs in a T-20 game. Earlier, this outfit led by Huwaid Hamid scored 241 against Mirza Gladiators (Hazratbal) at Islamia College ground. Batting first, Alkhuddam started with a bang as Ishtiyaq and Sajad Ganaie played brisk knocks of 79 and 68 runs respectively. All Ad-Life Stars’ bowlers were taken to the cleaners with some lusty hitting by the duo. Ad-Life had no clue whatsoever how to stop the flow of runs, as these kept coming from either side of the wicket. Chasing 239 was never going to be easy for the already dented side of Ad-Life Stars, whose campaign in the ongoing Downtown Champions League (DCL) is over by all means. They folded out for paltry 125 in reply and lost the match by 113 runs. Shabir was the only batsman who played a decent looking knock of 31 runs. Ishtiyaq, who had earlier scored quick fire fifty, also claimed two wickets and won Player of the Match award. Dr. Asim supported him well by taking two wickets. ------------------------ends------------------- DCL Match 49 Kehwa Knight Riders Beat Hawks By 5 Wickets September 30, 2013: Kehwa Knight Riders (Hawal) staged a fantastic comeback into the Downtown Champions League (DCL) by securing a win by five wickets against struggling Jawahar Housing Hawks (Eidgah) in match 49 played at Islamia College ground on Monday in the afternoon fixture. With this important win, KKR jumped to fifth position on the Points Table with 10 points from nine league games. Hawks slip to sixth position with 10 points in nine games. JHH, after winning the toss, opted to bat first but failed to post a match winning total on the board. The team scored only 140/8 in 20 overs. Allrounder Showkat Kota made 38 and Nazir, aka ‘Lyodd’, contributed 21. From KKR, Waseem Munshi and Irfan claimed two wickets each conceding 22 and 38 runs respectively. KKR batsmen chased the required target of 141 in 16.5 overs without much fuss losing only five wickets. Opening batsman Prateek, Delhi lad, played a brilliant knock of 65 runs in only 29 balls. Waseem also made 31 in 26 balls. Player of the Match Prateek also received Best Batsman award. For JHH, Amir Farooq and Showkat Kota took two wickets apiece. -----------------------------ends------------------------- DCL Match 48 ROYAL STARS SHOCK GHANI GLIDERS AT KU September 30, 2013: With six victories and 12 points in their kitty in the ongoing Downtown Champions League (DCL), the in-form Ghani Gliders (Zaina Kadal) were in for a surprise as their complacency against Kashmir Royal Stars (Buch Pora) cost them two important points in match 48, their eighth game, on Monday’s morning fixture at University of Kashmir grounds. Royal Stars beat Ghani Gliders by 15 runs in a low-scoring affair. Hashim’s hat-trick, third one in the DCL 2013 so far, jolted Ghani Gliders at a crucial juncture to seal the game for Kashmir Royal Stars (KRS). After winning the toss, KRS opted to bat first to post meager 132/7 in allotted 20 overs. Jehangir top scored with a knock of 52 and allrounder Hashim chipped in with useful 31. For Ghani Gliders, Saleem claimed four wickets giving away only 18 runs in his quota of four overs while Imtiyaz took two. At the half-way stage, Gliders thought the game was in their pocket but KRS bowlers unsettled them with some accurate bowling. Hashim, aka Watson, who in the earlier game took three wickets in his very first over against Mirza Gladiators, claimed a hat-trick against Ghani Gliders to peg the opposition back. Ghani Gliders were bundled out for 117 in 19.2 overs. Only the dashing opening batsman Dr. Sajad scored a fifty for Gliders and Imtiyaz made 24, but the rest of the wickets fell like a pack of cards. Hashim, who took three wickets for just 19 runs, was adjudged Best Bowler. Jehangir received Player of the Match award. ---------------------------------ends-------------------------- Match 47 BR LIONS CONTINUE TO ROAR IN DCL 2013 September 30, 2013: Baba Reshi Lions (Khanyar) are emerging as hot favorites to lift the coveted Downtown Champions League (DCL) 2013 title, as they registered yet another win, their seventh overall, by 56 runs against struggling Kashmir Super Kings (Badam Wari) in DCL match 47 played at Islamia College ground on Monday. BRL are now topping the Points Table with 14 points after playing nine games overall and almost sealed their place in the Playoffs. BRL skipper Ubaid Haroon won the toss and decided to bat first. His batsmen did not disappoint and the team managed to score challenging 158/8 in 20 overs. Imran Bazaz played a match winning knock of 75 facing only 48 deliveries. Imtiyaz Malla from Kashmir Super Kings bowled well and claimed three scalps while conceding 22 runs and Murtaza also took three wickets for 24 runs. In reply, KSK boys folded out for platry 102 in 17.3 overs thus gifting away a win by huge margin of 56 runs to BRL. Only Imran (21 runs) and Imtiyaz Malla (18 runs) tried to hold the innings together for KSK but in the end their effort wasn’t enough to surpass BRL. For BRL, Showkat was star performer with the ball claiming three wickets for just nine runs. Deservedly, Imran Bazaz for his innings of 75 runs won Player of the Match award. Bazaz also received Highest Sixes award. ---------------------------ends-------------------------------- DCL POINTS TABLE (Day 15) 1. Baba Reshi Lions: Played 9, Won7, Lost 2, 14 Points 2.
