DCs SWING WITH SCOOTER (1966) was essentially an unintentional prototype for 1970s SCOOBY-DOO, with its gang of wholesome teenagers interacting with monsters, aliens and spies -- with the additional gimmick of having a a cute, Vespa-riding teenage mod Brit as its title lead. (However, I have no idea if anyone at Hanna-Barbera ever saw this comic while developing SCOOBY-DOO.) But after some really WEIRD stuff drawn by Joe Orlando (the cover of No. 4 is so grotesque, I can barely stand to look at it!), SWING WITH SCOOTER quickly became just another ARCHIE clone, style and all, with its fifteenth issue.
