DDC Anantnag conducts review meeting ANANTNAG, JULY 23: District Development Commissioner, Anantnag today convened a meeting to review the progress of working of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry departments. Additional District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries were also present in the meeting.It was given out in the meeting that annual fish production of about 300 quintals from both government and private sectors has been registered in the district which amounts to monetary value of Rs. 3 crores. There are 13 units of trout fish units producing fish in the district and about 450 fishermen have been registered. The department has so far provided one room facility on IAY pattern @ Rs. 0.50 lakhs to 104 beneficiaries in the district.While reviewing the performance of Sheep department, it was given out that the district has a sheep population of 2.27 lakhs besides 0.50 lakhs of cattle of indigenous breed and 1.05 lakhs of cattle of exogenous breed. Under NMPS, the department has proposed 10 goat units this year in the district.It was revealed that the total population of cattle in the district is 2.06 lakhs. There is also a poultry rearing space at Larkipora which caters to the poultry availability to the BPL families. Total milk production of the district is 46.125 metric tons till now for the current financial year, the meeting was informed.The District Development Commissioner urged all the officers to work hard and exploit all available resources in making the district self sufficient in meat, fishes and milk production.The officers on the occasion assured District Development Commissioner of full utilisation of resources for achieving a sustainable and progressive growth in the sectors under review.
