DEAR FRIENDS, WHEN MY NIGHT FELL Wednesday, October 18, 2000 was a normal day. I was a full-time student at Cleveland State Community College studying Elementary Education. Okay okay! I made either not going to class or just walking out part of my career! CSCC--------I AM SO SORRY! I had returned to cashiering part-time at Wal-Mart just six days earlier. “Neesy” (twin sister Denise), Mom and Dad came when I got off. “Neesy” and I were heading to church where we were very active in Shiloh’s choir and Drama. I remember getting aggravated at Denise because she kept after me to call Mom and Dad telling them we loved them. I did and moments later, we were stopped at the red light at the 64/Durkee Rd. intersection when she saw a truck barreling toward us at a high speed. She told me to hold on we were going to be hit. The impact gave her a minor skull fracture and gave me a traumatic brain injury putting me in a coma. Woke up three days later. I have spent these 13 years adjusting whether making it easier to type or feeding myself. I may have been expected to be 100% recovered by now, but if things were different, I would not be the Christian I am today. I would not have been with my “Neesy” when she died. I certainly would not be here with Mom if things were different. It is something to think about. Would our lives be better if what has happened did not happen?
