DEATH: ARE WE REALLY PREPARED FOR IT? those who are dating dont want it to come. the newly-married want at least to see their first child- alive. Having graduated from college, you wish to get a job and earn some shilling. governors, senators, M.P.s and MCAs believe they will finish their term in office. the skeptic dies, the atheist dies, the preacher dies, favorite politicians, film stars and musicians die. like being born, and going to the toilet, death is an equaliser of all. we all live like death is many miles away, even with our horrible road culture, terrorist grenades, burglars, carjackers and rogue relatives that will slash you for land, money or other property. we all will die, like we or not, but we live our entire lives living like it will never happen. we dont prepare for it. we even mock those who remind us of deaths inevitability. we hate God for reminding us that He has set before us life and death and that we should choose life. we ignore Him and His provision of resurrection. most of us believe we will live forever, in a good place, even though we would rather study and prepare for medicine, theology, economics e.t.c and not the after life. when good or famous people die, because they are popular, cherished or closed to us e.g relatives, we often believe that death ushers them straight into the presence of God, whom most of them reject. C.S. Lewis has a small book called The Great Divorce. you must all read it for a positive shock of your lives. The divorce is not of a marital nature. it is about the total separation and detachment of heaven and hell from each other - permanence. the book concludes with the following remark: In the end, there are only two kinds of people, those who say to God, Thy will be done and those to whom God turns and says, thy will be done. which among these are you?
