DECEPTION IS MAKING SOMETHING FALSE BELIEVABLE All DECEPTIONS have some elements of truth. If we are not deeply rooted in the word of God we will SURELY be deceived. All “TRUTH” must be tested by the word of God. Jesus repeatedly warned His disciples about DECEPTIONS in the last days. “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many”. (Matthew 24:4-5 KJV) “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.” (Matthew 24:11 KJV) “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matthew 24:24 KJV) “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Mat 7:15 KJV) In the book of Revelation Jesus again warned His people about deception of the whole world. “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Rev 12:9 KJV) He continues to say in Rev 13:14 KJV “And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.” False prophets would appear authentic apostles of Christ. In 2 Corinthians 11:13-14 KJV “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light”. Beware of a person who proclaim He is Christ on earth or who appear like Christ “For many will come in my name, claiming, I am the Messiah, and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:5 NIV) Not everyone who preach about Christ and do good or perform miracles are for Christ Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who DOES the WILL OF MY FATHER who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS. How do we know deception? 1. Deception teaches disobedience or lawlessness. “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things Gods wrath comes on those who are disobedient. (Ephesians 5:6 NIV) 2. Deception does not teach from the Bible but from traditions. “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.(Colossians 2:8 NIV) How do we avoid being deceived? 1. “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (I John 4:1 NIV) 2. Christians should study their Bible and not swallow everything they hear in church “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV) 3. “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” John 5:39 KJV 4. Paul commends the Berean Jews because they verify what they hear. “Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:11 NIV) 5. “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
