DEEDS: “Aboo Hurayrah related that Allaah’s Messenger (pbuh) quoted Allaah as saying: I will declare war on whoever shows hostility to one of My pious worshippers. And the most beloved way by which My slave may come close to Me is by doing what I have made obligatory (fard) on him. My servant will continue to come closer to Me by doing voluntary acts of worship (nawaafil) until I love him. If I love him, I will become his hearing by which he hears, his sight by which he sees, his hand by which he holds things, and his feet by which he walks. If he asks Me anything, I will give it to him, and if he seeks refuge in Me, I will protect him. And if I were to hesitate to do anything, it would be to take the soul of the believer, for he dislikes death and I dislike to disappoint him.” Collected by al-Bukhaaree (Sahih al-Bukhari, vol. 8, pp. 336-7, no. 509). This sentence means that he will only listen to what Allaah wants him to hear, see only what Allaah wants him to see, touch or take only what Allaah wants him to touch or take, and go only where Allaah wants him to go. The idea that Allaah becomes one with man in essence is heretical and fundamentally pagan.
