DEEP INSIGHT INTO MARRIAGE Most law abiding citizens of every country are aware that to drive a car, one must possess a Full Driving License. Before the driving license can be obtained, various driving lessons need to be carried out. However, in some countries, it easier to obtain a marriage certificate than a driving license. This is the reason for the high level of breakdown in marriages in our society. People tend to get married for the wrong reasons. Some hide behind the ‘Veil of Love’, but what they fail to understand is that love does not make a marriage work or last. Application of knowledge is key to successful marriage. There are 4 types of Love 1. Brotherly Love: 2. Erotic Love 3. Friendship Love 4. Divine Love 1&3 type of love is conditional. It is based on a relationship of expectancy and mutual understanding. Number 2 type of love is a relationship based on the physical side. On how attractive, beautiful or handsome the parties are. However, when it comes to Divine love, this is based on unconditional love. Love that is given without expecting anything in return. The kind of Love God exhibits towards us. Unfailing love. Divine love is not emotions that display chemical reaction into our brain. Love is a choice. It is a response to value someone we love. It is a force generated by a decision. It is the act of a will. Love is a decision to commit to meet the needs of another, for life, without expectation. Love is caring – anticipating and meeting a need before they occur. JOHN 15:12-13 “This is my commandment; Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is not greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” John 15:17 “This is my command; Love each other.” Love is the manifestation of the inherent nature of God through the human Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, it is nearly impossible to love. Galatians 5:22 “But the Holy Spirit produces this Kind of fruit in our lives, Love…………………………………..” True love gives no reason to love. When one has a reason to love, it becomes conditional love which breathes expectations. When these expectations are not met, it leads to disappointment. The fruit of disappointment gives birth to division/separation hence leading to divorce. Divorce is the death of a relationship which creates a dysfunctional family and social decay. This will ultimately result in the community destruction. Ecclesiastes 5:4-8 “When you make a promise to God, do not delay in following it through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to make a promise and not keep it. Do not let your mouth make you sin. And do not defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry and he might wipe out everything you have achieved. ADVICE When you go to the altar of marriage and make the vow “I do”, the deal is sealed in heaven. There is no going back. This is the reason St Paul said that it is better not to marry. Marriage vows are parallel to vows made to God which cannot be broken. Vows are made to God and are inherent to Judgment. Ecclesiastes 5:7 “Talk is cheap, like daydreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead” PRAYER May we not fall into the wrong side of our creator due to the words of our mouth in Jesus Mighty name – Amen!!!!!!! God bless and have a happy Sabbath day in advance.
