DEF-Durban Electronic Festival is a developmental conference that features panel discussions, in depth artist interviews, demonstrations and an expo element. DEF U offers attendees a unique opportunity to interact with some of the country’s leading producers and performers in an informal and non-party environment. The University is free to the public and has a shuttle service to a variety of areas in Durban. Red Bull Studio Cape Town will be running couch sessions where musical figures from the local music-industry share and impart wisdom about their career and experiences. Over the years the Studio has hosted artists from international heavy-weight such as Public Enemy and Steve Aoki to local champions such as Vinny Da Vinci and Black Coffee. The Campus event will be held at The Origin nightclub on 20 September with other workshops leading up to this.
