DELIVER US FROM EVERY EVIL ( PART VI) Gaining Your Freedom In Christ Luke 4:18-19 The bible made it clear that one of the main reasons why Jesus Christ came to the earth is to destroy the works of the devil,1John 3:8. The devil is specialized in taking people captives. From my experience, I have discovered that deliverance is not a days job. Sometimes, it takes days, weeks, months or even years. This is so because,if the person is set free, the devil can easily re - possess the person. Just as the devil is specialized in taking people captives, so too is Jesus specialized in setting people free. In Luke 4:18, Jesus said He came to preach deliverance to the captives. During Jesus ministry on earth, He was setting those who were taken captives free. In Luke 13:10-17, The woman who was having the spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, and was bowed together and could not lift up herself, was set free by Jesus. A lot of believers are in the captivity of the devil, and they think they cannot be set free. We are like elephants,which is one of the most powerful animals. An elephant can pick up a ton with his trunk, yet if you go to a circus, you will see a massive animal tied to a little stake in the ground, and he will stay there. It has the potential to go anywhere it wants to go,but instead, it simply looks around and possibly thinks about how it would be different if the rope werent tied down. The elephants problem is mental because when it was younger, it was tied to a stake that was deep on the ground, before the young elephant got its strength, it pulled and struggled as a youngster and just couldnt get away from it. One day, the young elephant accepted the fact that it was not going to be free. That is why whenever the elephant is tied to a stake, it does not make any attempt to gain freedom. Believers are captives of the devil, we must realize that freedom is our portion. Those in captivity must identify what the devil is using to keep them in captivity. They must also find out how they were taken captives, and the reason they were taken captives. Remember, if you are in a prison, you are limited. You are deprived of the good things that should come to you. The devil will even go a step further by taking all the good things that belong to you. People In prison cant prosper or operate freely because, they are deprived of their freedom. Usually, satan attaches a strong man to people in captives. In Mark 3:27,, scripture says No man can enter into a strong mans house and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman, and then he will spoil his house. One of the signs of a person being in captive is that, the person becomes weak and cannot pray as he/she was doing before that time. The goodnews is, every prison door shall be opened in Jesus name. I command your finances, family, prayer life, life that was taken captive to receive the anointing of deliverance in Jesus name...
