DELTA!!! I rarely post anything about bad service. But the way DELTA Airlines has treated me this week is appalling. Its not just me! They do it to everyone! The DELTA workers are some of the rudest, hateful, arrogant, deceitful, incredulous pieces of work in the business. I fly/travel for a living. I spend most weekends From March,1-Jan, 1 on the road. I travel by bus or plane most of the time. Ive been on airlines all around the world from Paris to Pakistan, Iraq to Illinois, Norway to New York. I truly, truly mean it with every oz. of my being... DELTA is the absolute worst in the business. The airlines in Afghanistan were more impressive with customer service, they didnt even speak English!! Tell me what you think about the situation. Here it is! Friday I was headed out to do 2 show. Got to the plane, too full & too small to fit my guitar. After prying my guitar from my fingers to gate check it, I explained to the luggage handler that the case the guitar is in isnt meant to have bags put on top of it. Could you please make sure it goes on last. His reply, This isnt my 1st rodeo to which I replied I understand that sir, its an easily breakable & special piece of musical gear his reply No more special than anyone elses as he tossed my guitar down the black plastic shoot beside the walk-way. Which really reinforced to me he was on top of his game & had it under control I must say! So I shouldnt have been surprised when I landed in Tulsa for the show & my guitar was trashed!! Then DELTA moved on to their next phase of service, called the Triple D. Deny, Distract & Discourage. The other tool in their arsenal is to talk in a low condescending tone with their eyes half close & a look of contempt on their face. Thats suppose to enrage you as the customer & then they can say your being hard to deal with and pass you off to some other DELTA employee that doesnt give 2 skirts. If they can just get you to leave the airport your less likely to complain or call them out on their failures as a company. Not gonna work this time DELTA! Im not letting this go. You treat your customers like garbage! Your an embarrassment to the Airline service & Im gonna make sure everyone I know hears about it. But...I digress. DELTA started the weekend by crushing my acoustic guitar, not breaking it, crushing it!! Then tried to pawn me off like it didnt mean a damn thing...Till I started tweeting about it. Kim @ DELTA assistance was kind & prompt in getting back to me (after many tweets from fans & fellow DELTA lovers) and assured me they would handle my rental fees for guitar & car to pick up replacement guitar, plus they would replace my guitar they broke. All is good right? Wrong! I get set to board a plane home a few hrs ago. The gate agent asked if I would check my guitar, not gate check, check it so itll go through the luggage routine in ATL. HAA!!! The headquarters for absolute incompetence DELTA ATL. I politely ask the gate agent if there will be room on the plane for it because theyve already broke my guitar this trip when I had to gate checked it in ATL. I wasnt about to let them put it through regular luggage handling. She replied in a condescending tone Its a full flight. I told her I understood & filled her in on my plight with travel on DELTA. After much discussion and back & forth she finally relented & said she would put it in the Capt closet for me. I was ecstatic!! Even after all the BS, it was gonna be fine. All Good!! Right. Wrong!!!! Not 2 minutes later the same attendant had a Hardshell case and was taking it down the walk way. I asked if she was taking the guitar to the closet or gate check? She replied the closet. I asked if there would still be room like she promised in the closet for mine, NO and she walked off. My blood pressure shot through the roof!! When she came back up the ramp she was smirking at me & chuckling with her other DELTA gate agent. I approached the gate & again asked will there still be room in the closet? She barked back @ me NO. I asked her why she told me I could put my guitar in the closet and then right after that took the person behind me in lines guitar and stowed it there. Her reply They are a minor. I didnt understand how age worked its way into things (maybe I have a discrimination lawsuit on my hands) but it did! I explained that the other guitar was in a Hardshell case unlike mine & should be the one gate checked. She turned and walked off. The other attendant then began to lecture me on DELTA rules & regulations. Another load of ever changing crap that is only in place to keep them from being held accountable. I was livid!! I made it to the plane & the flight attendant told me to check my bag. Seriously... straw meet camels back!! I filled him in briefly on the situation, he wasnt moved by my problem (go figure a DELTA employee) and replied that I will handle it (which means wait till Im sitting down & gate check the guitar) and that I need to take my seat. Then after the plane boarded & we were waiting to push back he came to my seat and told me he wouldnt tolerate yelling & foul language 1st of all. I NEVER USED A CURSE WORD EVEN ONCE!!!! 2nd The tone of my voice aggravation and level of my voice are two different things. Was I aggravated? YES! Was I yelling, cursing & causing a scene? Absolutely not in any way. If I was they could have kicked me off the flight!! I told him I never used foul language (Not a what the hell, dont give a damn or anything else) God Bless & have a good day. Im now more insulted that I was accused of swearing, then was called a liar by a DELTA attendant in front of a plane full of people. Broken guitar, broken trust, broken spirit. DELTA IS ON IT!! After a long (stewing) DELTA flight home I penned this...did I mention I was flying DELTA AIRLINES? I finally made it back to ATL in one piece (unlike my guitar) and had to share the story of my weekend & the AMAZING JOB DELTA AIRLINES IS DOING FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. Fly DELTA!! BB
