DEMOCRACY YES, AS LONG AS YOUR OPINION IS THE SAME AS OURS Hollywood tough guy Steven Seagal has had his blues gig cancelled at a festival in Estonia following an uproar over the stars pro-Russia views, the authorities said Tuesday. This situation has been solved. The festival organisers have made changes in the program, Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet told has said, confirming Seagals blues gig was cancelled. Steven Seagal has tried to actively participate in politics during the past few months and has done it in a way which is unacceptable to the majority of the world that respects democracy and the rule of law, he added. Hardly democracy if you cannot “participate in politics” one might think. Paet continued Just like we cant accept the partial occupation of our neighbouring country, we also cant accept mindless praise of it, Paet said, referring to Estonians condemnation of Seagals reported praise of Putins Ukraine policy but he made no mention of the undemocratic overthrow of the elected President of Ukraine in February of this year an action which started the civil war. Steven Seagal dubbed Putin one of the greatest world leaders in March after Moscow annexed Crimea following a 99% vote of its people to rejoin Russia. Steven said Putins desire to protect the Russian-speaking people of Crimea, his assets, and the Russian Black Sea military base in Sevastopol [was] very reasonable. Expressing such views clearly violates the “democratic” principles of Estonia and its Foreign Minister. This is a graphic example of why Russia and the people of east Ukraine are fighting the pro American forces helping Kiev’s murder of its own people. Striking Back supports Steven Seagal’s right to speak his mind. That is democracy and Estonia and its Foreign Minister need to learn that.
