DENR, LGU Bauang Join Land Titling Project (Aida Paday-os of The Amianan Tribune) To foster better linkages with the Local Government Units, the DENR launched the land titling partnership with the Municipality of Bauang, La Union as a means to fast Track the Handog Titulo Program on August 1, 2014. This was highlighted through Signing a Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) with the Municipal Mayor of Bauang, Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III. This partnership agreement signals the acceptance and processing of Free Patent Titles of residents of Bauang. Present during the MOPA signing were the key officials of Bauang, La Union in the person of Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III, Vice Mayor Bonifacio Malinao, Municipal Councilors, Ms. Diana F. Flores (Municipal Assessor), Engr. Rainier J. Calica (MPDC) and DENR headed by Regional Technical Director Manuel Ydia, PENRO Samuel Songcuan, LMO III Myrna Manio and Regional Public Affairs Office (RPAO) representative. In his message, Mayor de Guzman recognized the assistance being given by the DENR and grateful for the opportunity given to his constituents in Bauang to lighten their burden relative to their lands as he and stressed that “through our concerted efforts and partnership we can improve the lives of stakeholders.” Regional Technical Director for Lands, Manny Ydia stressed that through this land titling agreement under the Handog Titulo Program, more than five (5) thousand hectares are to be titled with the 39 barangays wherein 35% of these are agricultural lands. He also mentioned that Bauang is the 2nd municipality to be covered by a MOPA, the first was Agoo and he hopes that this will be replicated in the other remaining 17 municipalities and 1 city in La Union.
