DEPARTMENT OF LANDS PAPUA NEW GUINEA COLLAPSES affecting Milne - TopicsExpress

DEPARTMENT OF LANDS PAPUA NEW GUINEA COLLAPSES affecting Milne Bay development. And our members of parliament are doing nothing. What can an ordinary person do when when a government department is completely useless? Nothing, accept rely on elected representatives to sort it. But our MPs do not know what is happening with development in their own electorates where private development has ground to a halt because it is no longer possible to do a land titles search. Searching titles stopped in December last year when there was a move to new offices. One senior bank official said it was not possible to do a title search at present; hundreds of customers were held-up; millions of kina of loans were held back; he thought that customers could go through the back-door and pay but said the banks wont do that. This is affecting all classes of business SME, private land sales and the big end of town. It is hurting small people in Milne Bay...check it our if you need as our bank managers. The Department of Lands was also one of the prime movers in the SABL land grabs, along with DPI. What needs to happen? Suspend the Minister for Lands; the Secretary from Lands; the Registrar of Titles. Demand accountability. Ask the Australian government who operate similar systems to lend us some experienced land registration staff until the mess is sorted; digitize all titles and put them on-line like IPA and company records.
