DESIGNJET UPDATE - URGENT Designjet T1500 & T920 Printer Series Date: July 2013 Impact/Severity: Urgent Region: WW Support Area: PL30 Hardware Product Troubleshooting Audience: Post Sales Confidentiality: HP Restricted HP 727 Printhead Initialization troubleshooting With printhead initialization problems it’s important to gather all the information: 1. Make sure the printer has the latest firmware, available from: hp/go/T1500/firmware. 2. If the failure is a “Printhead Reseat”, try removing the printhead and then reinsert. a. If the printer still requests “Printhead reseat”, try to clean the contacts with a dry cloth. 3. If the printhead doesn’t work after reseating, or the printer reports “Printhead replace”, apply the following steps: a. Capture the printhead failure code in the “Service Support / Printer Information” from EWS, or “Printhead Information” in the front panel. Provide the code in the repair info. b. Capture the “service plot”: go to the Embedded Web Server; Support tab -> Service support -> Printer information. A new page opens, select the “All pages” tab. Download this page or print to pdf in order to obtain the page. c. Alternatively, check the printhead “Status” in the front panel. 4. Make a screen shot of the last step that the printhead initialization was able to fulfill completely: step 0a, step 0b, step 1, step 2, or step 3 below. Also, provide whether the printer is requesting a printhead “Reseat” or “Replace”. Note: A printhead “Replace” could be caused by a more severe failure than a printhead “Reseat”. 5.
