DESSIN TO OFFER DISCOUNTED FELINE SPAY AND NEUTER CERTIFICATES SATURDAY! The Olga and Dorothea Dessin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has again teamed up with the nonprofit Eastern Pennsylvania Animal Alliance (EPAA) to combat cat over-population. Dessin will offer 40 feline spay and neuter surgeries and vaccinations through EPAA’s surgical van on Tuesday, September 24, at Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr., Honesdale. The event, titled “Avoid a CATastrophe!,” is also made possible in part by a grant through the John and Helen Villaume Foundation and a donation from a community member who wishes to remain anonymous. Certificates, for the EPAA van, and this community service, MUST BE OBTAINED IN ADVANCE at Dessin Animal Shelter, during business hours, beginning 11 a.m., this Saturday, September 7. Stray and feral cats will receive spays or neuters, rabies vaccinations and required ear tipping for $25. Certificates for house pets are $50 and include spaying or neutering, a rabies vaccination and distemper shot. They are available, first come – first serve. Dessin Animal Shelter IS making a Difference in Pet Overpopulation! Please be aware as of July 2, 2012, the price of Dessin Animal Shelter discounted spay/neuter vouchers will be $10. The program is a community service funded by private donations and grants. As a result, Dessin will sell up to 10 cat vouchers a month.
