DG SSS confirms the location of the kidnapped Chibok girls as Army vows to retake Damboa village THE Nigerian Army on Monday, vowed to retake Damboa village in Borno State, allegedly taken over by the Boko Haram sect. Speaking during a security briefing in Abuja, the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-Gener al Chris Olukolade, said no portion of country’s land would be conceded to any terrorist group, insisting that insecurity in Damboa would be reversed. “We are not conceding any portion of the country to terrorist groups. “We are sure that Nigeria security agencies are firm with deployment to that area, patrol are active and we are going to reverse any form of security threat around the area,” he said. Olukolade, however, denied the report that insurgents had hoisted their flag in Damboa village. “I will not be stampeded to endorse what you read on social media. Nobody, I repeat, will be allowed to hoist any flag in any portion of land belonging to this country,” he said. Speaking on the report that Oby Ezekwesili’s passport had been seized at the Abuja Airport by Department of State Security (DSS), the spokesperson of the service, Marylin Ogar, said the report was untrue, urging people to desist from trivialising security issues. She explained that Ezekwesili, on her way to London, as of the time of the briefing, had to be subjected to security check like any other person boarding the plane. “I wonder where she is right now, because we don’t have her in any of our detention facilities. “Somebody has put same question during the Channel rise daily this morning and they were clearly told that she is already on her way to the UK. “I wouldn’t know why people are advocating for her. Statutorily, the SSS clears all passengers that travel outside this country or coming into this country. “Let people stop arrogating to themselves unnecessary importance, when we have serious security challenges in our hands. Security issues must not be shortchanged for any reason,” Ogar insisted. Also, the coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, said Ezekwesili’s action was tantamount to ridiculing the country before the international community. “So, if you are going through this(security) process and because you have access to social network, the next thing is to tweet that you have been detained by DSS. I think this kind of thing is wrong, it is deadly. Why are will ridiculing our country? “Why is it that people, who had opportunity to rule this country at the highest level will now subject this country to ridicule, simply because they have a matter to settle with people in government? “If this Boko Haram menace ends and Nigeria remains, and they find themselves in government again, is this how they expect to be treated? Or what would they do to the country they have so destroyed?” He asked. Also, the Director General of the Department of State Security, DSS, Mr Ita Ekpeyong said that security forces know where precisely the kidnapped Chibok girls are but are being very careful in their rescue efforts so as not to endanger their lives. “The issue of the Chibok girls, government is making efforts. We know where they are but we don’t want to endanger their lives, that is the truth. We want to take it gradually and release them at the appropriate time. We know where they are” he said Mr Ekpeyong also stated that the Federal Government has directed all the state government planning to register non-indigines in their state by issuing them means of Identification, to stop forthwith and warned military officers not to work with states that may want to go ahead with the process.
