#DHL allocates RM100m to strengthen position DHL Supply Chain (M) Sdn Bhd has allocated RM100 million to strengthen its footprint in the domestic logistics market, said its managing director, Prakash Rochlani. Prakash said 40-45 per cent of the investment would be for the warehouse facility, 15-20 per cent for human capital development and the rest for expansion of transport fleet. The investment is necessary to accelerate our growth -- thanks to the countrys positive gross domestic product, low inflation and its important role in the region, he said at a media briefing on the Malaysia Integrated Logistics Centre today. He said the centre was expected to start operations in November this year following the completion of the other two facilities in Johor and Penang in the last 12 months. The company, which is owned by Deutche Post DHL, was also keen to double its capacity due the completion of the warehouse facility in Shah Alam, he said. With the completion of Shah Alam warehouse, we have over 1.5 million sq ft of warehouse space, Prakash said. On transport fleet, DHL aimed to add another 50 trucks to its current 50 chartered transport in the next 24 months time frame, he said. Prakash said DHL looked forward to open three branches by year-end and add four branches in the first half of 2015. The right infrastructure and the (investment) in the people will ensure that we are ready for the increased growth in Malaysian business, he said. He said the investment in Malaysia was part of DHLs growth strategy for the Asia-Pacific region. The company plans to expand its warehousing footprint by 200 per cent by 2020 in anticipation of the regions logistics requirements, he said.-- Bernama
