DID RAUF AREGBESOLA ASK FOR A RERUN ? Via Rauf4Osun My attention is drawn to a statement purportedly credited to Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola in Tribune Newspapers of Monday, 20th October, 2014 in his Reply to the petition filed by Otunba Iyiola Omisore and the PDP challenging his victory at the August 9th Governorship wherein they said Ogbeni prayed for a Rerun. My initial reaction to such bunkum was a mute indifference until it is now getting more attention from the PDP cyber rodents which is being used to cover whatever calamity that had befall them with the dissolution of the Election Petition Tribunal Panel that had been replaced by a brand new panel. There was nothing like rerun prayer in any of the reply filed by either the APC or Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola. For the avoidance of doubt, the lone prayer in the Reply to the petition is here under reproduced: WHEREOF in all the foregoing premises, amongst others, the 2nd Respondent denies in their entirety all the prayers of the Petitioners as set out in all of paragraph 59 (i - v) on pages 174 and 175 of the petition and will urge the Honourable Tribunal to dismiss the petition with substantial costs for being unmeritorious, frivolous, vexatious, ill-conceived and an abuse of court process. It is standing logic on its head for a respondent to ask for alternative prayer in any reply. The responsibility for alternative prayer rest squarely on the shoulder of the petitioner to achieve the purpose of either calling for fresh election in case his declaration as winner will be an impossibility. People should disregard this statement from those whose trademark is to spread falsehood in order to remain relevant despite glaring rejection by the good people of our dear state. We implore the gentlemen of the press to be wary of news coming from PDP in the State of Osun as that has brought nothing but embarrassment to their organisation when it was discovered that most of their news are tissue of lies. We assure our teeming supporters of our unflinching committment to the defence and protection of the mandate freely given to us by the good people of Osun as expressed on the 9th August 2014 despite harassment and intimidation of the Almighty Federal Boys. The PDP and their hirelings should rather take a queue from the admission made by their National Chairman that Ogbeni roundly defeated his party at the August 9 Election in the state of Osun. It is only those who had no shred of honour in them that will allege any form of rigging or manipulation in an election that was adjudged the freest and fairest election in the history of Nigerian democracy. We once again congratulate the good people of Osun for choosing light against darkness and we assure them that Governor Rauf Aregbesola will continue in his quest to take Osun on the path of growth and development.
