DID YOU KNOW- per Uintah County Ordinance Title 6: Animals, Chapter 6.48 Estray and Trespassing animals, Section 6.48.040 Notice of Estray; A. Any person, other than an official of the county or its designated agent, who finds an estray , shall report such fact to the animal control officer of Uintah County or its designated agent immediately. The county through its agents, upon receipt of notification shall either take possession of the estray or, if deemed appropriate, authorize the person in possession of the estray to maintain and care for it pending determination and location of its owner. B. Any person who gives notice of an estray and delivers it to the county is relieved of all liability to third persons on account of the estray to the extent of the value of the animal. The Uintah Animal Control & Shelter Special Service District is the Designated Agent for Uintah County. "Estray" refers to Livestock only. A certified Utah State Livestock Brand Inspector must also be notified or a Tribal Brand Inspector (if the livestock is found on Tribal Lands or possibly owned by Tribal members). Only a certified Brand Inspector can make the final determination on the ownership or estray status of livestock.
